Cinnamon Scone Scrolls

Ingredients

  • SCONE DOUGH
  • 3 cups flour
  • 5 tsp baking powder
  • 75g butter, grated
  • 3/4 cup milk

To Top

  • 1/4 cup melted or spreadable butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Brown sugar

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C.
  2. In a large bowl, grate butter into the flour and baking powder. Rub it in lightly with your fingers.
  3. Make a well in the centre and pour in the milk.
  4. Mix lightly until just combined—do not overmix.
  5. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly.
  6. Roll or press the dough out into a rectangle using a floured rolling pin or knuckles.
  7. Brush the surface with melted butter, then sprinkle generously with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  8. Roll the dough into a log and slice into scrolls.
  9. Place scrolls on a lined baking tray, touching or nearly touching.
  10. Bake for about 15 minutes at 200°C until golden.
